Ed Mashburn is a retired public school and college English teacher living on the Gulf Coast of Alabama. He has fished the Midwest- the Ozarks are a favorite location- as well as Arizona, northern California, the entire Gulf Coast, and Belize and Mexico.
He writes for several national and regional outdoors magazines, and his most recent book is Kayak Fishing the Northern Gulf Coast, by Schiffer Press. A kayak fishing enthusiast, he loves paddling into those hidden honey holes in search of all types of gamefish.
Ed fly fishes for redfish, speckled trout, mackerel, and any other saltwater gamefish on the fly rod, and he avoids work at home by taking a long rod to local bass and bream ponds where he lays a line on the water.
During the Covid19 situation, he has made and fished four new fly rods, and this has helped him maintain a certain level of sanity.
