Matte Black 8', 1wt, 4pc Ultra-Light Fly Rod Blank

i hope its not bad form to review this twice but i did buy 2 ....so far.... built a second one as a 3 piece 6'1" used the same line and setup as the 8' and it is in a word.... marvelous shot nice tight loops with great accuracy but allows you to slow down and open the loops for very delicate presentation cant wait to take this one to a northern stream.

Built this blank 56g so actually a little heavy for what could be done but wanted a double ended real seat. cast it in the parking lot this morning with a 1wt line from Stuart Crofts Dry Fly from sunray in england. on an orvis battenkill 1 in the uplocking position completely in love with this setup. have ordered a wychwood river 56g reel for this and think it will be perfect in the downlocking position. as for the blank it is sensitive and cast with authority in a light wind but allow one to open the loop up for a delicate presentation when needed cant rave enough about it the only small niggle is that it is painted black over the neon green of the other blank sold on this site and some chipping was noted in the farrell area. intend to build a second version using the top 3 sections as a 6'1" for small areas... just great fun for surprisingly fair money.

Lovely true 1wt blank. I have not finished building, but casted/fished it with taped guides. First of all, on the "common cents" system, the ERN (effective rod number) was 1.04 based on my measurements, so this is a true 1wt. I cast it with the green WF1F line available here on getbent. Nice smooth casting with a size 14 dry. Very delicate landing. Accurate out to 30-40 feet. Handled a bit of a breeze with no problem. Caught an 8 inch bluegill and 11 inch largemouth. Both of those fish put a deep deep bend into this rod and were great fun. Great blank at a great price.

Fished with the finished rod. Used a WF2F Airflow Elite line. It casts excellent.

Just finished building it. Seems good.. Very light.
