The matte black 8'6", 3wt 4-piece carbon fiber fly rod blank is made from 40T carbon (IM12) and features a fast action flex which loads with precision. This blanks flexible tip allows you to accurately whip the fly right where you want it. This blank is also a newer addition to our GB Fly Shop and is quickly adding to the popularity of or 7'9" to 8'6" blanks, which are perfect choices for the types of springs and streams we have right here in Missouri.

    All-in-all I would say this is a fine blank but the action is much "faster" than I anticipated. In my humble opinion this should be rated as a 4wt. I compared the flex to a 4wt that I built on a different blank a few years ago and this blank is every bit as stiff as the 4wt. I ended up sending this blank back and looked for something else as my customer wants a 3wt and he already has a 4wt. With that being said, the blank looked nice, well built, the color/matte finish looked good but is more of a dark grey than black. I would build a rod on this blank and call it a 4wt, cast a 4wt line with it (or maybe even a 5wt line).

    I built a rod on this blank and liked it so much I bought another one for my son. It is a true fast action blank with a soft tip and powerful butt. I've been using it with a 4 wt. line but it casts a 3 wt. Just as well.

    Love the flex and light weight design. I've tied many get-bent flyrods carbon fiber and fiberglass for personal use and am always impressed with quality of materials n construction.
