Up-Locking Reel Seats

Up-Locking reel seats are the one of the most common.

The term "up-locking" refers to the direction in which the locking mechanism tightens. With an up-locking reel seat, the locking mechanism moves towards the tip of the rod when tightened, securing the reel in place.

These reel seats typically consist of two main components: the hood and the sliding band. The hood is the larger portion located closest to the butt of the rod. It usually has a threaded interior where the sliding band can be screwed in. The sliding band is the movable component that secures the reel foot in place when tightened.
